Experience exchange trip to Iceland shows the necessity of LAKMA creation

During the beginning of May, LAKMA representatives Inguna Jurgelane (ViA), Zita Vanaga (DU) and Ilona Blekte (LSPA) visited Iceland, in order to become acquainted with its’ experience with different life-long learning connected event solving and implementation processes. The obtained conclusions in the exchange visit proved that LAKMA creation has been a right step in order to begin solving questions which are connected with university role in the life-long learning processes, as well as to begin working in order to put in order life-long learning of Latvia from the methodical and judicial side.

During the meeting LAKMA representatives met life-long learning implementation professionals from the Agricultural University of Iceland, IDAN Education centre, Atlantic Centre of Excellence and Life-long learning centre in Reykjanes.

Very useful was the visit in IDAN education centre, where the LAKMA delegation got information about experience in the development of united association, which performs in Iceland for a long time and accepts informal education, provides with certificates, as well as directs anyone who desires to learn about further education obtaining process.

Ten universities of Latvia have collaborated in Latvian association of higher education institutions for life-long learning, and the aim of it is to support education in Latvia, by promoting lifelong learning field development in universities and colleges.
